■「～かと
思った」は、
最初に
思っていたことが
実際には
間違っていた(
勘違いしていた)と
分かったときに
使います。
"~~kato omotta" is used when you realize that what you initially thought was wrong (a misunderstanding).
■
動詞、い
形容詞は、「
普通形+かと
思った」です。
Verbs and i-adjectives use the plain form + "~~kato omotta".
■な
形容詞、
名詞は、「
普通形の"だ"を
消した
形+かと
思った」です。
For na-adjectives and nouns, remove the "da" from the plain form.
例文
先生と 一緒に 読んで みましょう。
Let's read together with your teacher.
あの人は 先生かと思った。 (実際は 先生ではない)
I thought that person was a teacher. (But the person is not actually a teacher.)
勉強していないかと思った。 (実際は 勉強している)
I thought they weren’t studying. (But they are actually studying.)
あの女の子は わがままかと思った。 (実際は わがままではない)
I thought that girl was selfish. (But she’s not actually selfish.)
程度を
表現できる
言葉の
場合は 「もっと」を
付けた
方が
自然に
聞こえる
場合があります。 また、「もっと」を
付けると
少し ニュアンスが
変わることが あります。
例)
・わがままかと
思った。(
実際は わがままではない)
・もっとわがままかと
思った。(
実際は とてもわがままではないが、
少しわがままかもしれない)
When expressing degree, it’s more natural to add "motto". Also, adding "motto" slightly changes the nuance.
Example:
I thought she was selfish. (But she’s not actually selfish.)
I thought she was more selfish. (She might be a little selfish, but not very much.)

I thought Mr. Sato didn’t have a lover. But yesterday, I was surprised to see Mr. Sato on a date with his lover. I thought Mr. Sato would be happy about finding a lover. But when I heard the story today, it seems he got dumped last night. I thought Mr. Sato wouldn’t cry, but he cried a lot.
