Let's practice situations where you meet someone for the first time.

Let's read the dialogue by splitting the roles with your teacher. After finishing, switch roles and read again.

Nice to meet you. I'm Kim.
Nice to meet you. I'm Emma.
Are you a student at this university?
Yes, I am. Are you an international student?
No, I am a Korean language instructor.

When saying A=B, use 'A wa B desu'.
To create a question sentence, add 'ka?' at the end of the sentence.
The negative form of 'A (noun) wa B (noun) desu' is made by changing the end of the sentence to 'dewa arimasen,' 'ja arimasen,' or 'ja nai desu'.
'Ja arimasen' and 'ja nai desu' are more casual forms than 'dewa arimasen'.
When meeting someone for the first time, you start by saying 'Hajimemashite'.
When surprised or suddenly spoken to, Japanese people often say 'A,'.
'A' in 'A wa B desu' is often omitted. It is frequently omitted when the listener understands what is being discussed. Additionally, 'A wa' is omitted to avoid overemphasizing 'A' by repeating it.
